Already Ready for the Weekend

Hi Internet People,

Okay so this week is definitely going to be one of those everybody’s working for the weekend kind of weeks. I work at a college and this is the first week back, which means I am super busy. I’m not complaining, I like my job and I enjoy working with students, but a lot of stuff is crammed into this week. I have class visits to make, students to contact, paperwork to update, and on top of that there is an intensive event we are trying to plan that keeps having wrenches thrown in it.

I can’t go into too many details, but let’s just say money is definitely going to be an issue and no one mentioned having to provide money to people. My job is sort of complicated and through it I’m not allowed access to any budgets for events. I can find volunteers, but I can’t pay or give anyone any money for doing anything. Problem is that there are definitely communication issues happening and yeah, stuff is a little hectic. Now after all that vagueness this means that I am definitely already ready for the week to be over.

Still love my job and excited to be here, but this week is just going to be super stressful, which is not fun at all. I do get a three day weekend though, which is going to be amazing. The Series of Unfortunate Events show drops on Netflix this Friday and I am totally binging it after work. I’m also going to do a review of it over on my YouTube channel because I have been anxiously awaiting this series since the first time it was mentioned online. I have a friend who should be coming over to binge it with me and I am just really looking forward to seeing the adaptation of it.

Should I Watch Annabelle?

Hi Internet People,

This is more a poll I guess than a regular post, but I need your help. On Friday I watched The Conjuring because my friend loaned it to me and based on the amount of Annabelle in it I keep thinking I should attempt to watch it. Now I’m saying attempt for a reason there. I’m actually terrified of the idea of that movie.

A little over a year ago on The Nerdy Girl Express I mentioned that I hate two thing in this world more than anything else, ventriloquist dummies and creepy looking dolls. I’m giving the dolls aspect a bit of a preface because I have owned/do own a couple of dolls still. One is an American Girl doll that I am totally never getting rid of because I desperately wanted one for so long as a kid and the other is a cloth doll I got in middle school at Hot Topic. Neither of them weird me out, but porcelain dolls, those things just seem menacing.

Annabelle in the movie seems like a combination of these two terrible things, which just seems unfair. I mean they’ve literally birthed a thing that is like the spawn of my two least favorite things and given it a movie. The real Annabelle isn’t even that creepy looking, she’s just a Raggedy Ann doll with a different name. They showed the doll on Mysteries at the Museum, seriously still creepy, but at least mildly more cuddly looking in real life. The Conjuring actually had way more of her in it than I was anticipating and since I already had to put up with her once, I’m thinking I should just go full hog and watch the movie specifically devoted to her.

If you’ve seen it can you let me now what you thought so I have an idea of what to expect? If I watch it I’m totally going to live tweet it because I can’t suffer that panic inducing mess alone. I would loss my mind if I did. Okay, probably not, but I would still be super freaked out. Let me know what you think here in the comments or on Twitter, @kleffnotes.

Oh Shoot, It’s Friday!

Hi Internet People,

I completely forgot today was Friday. I somehow remembered to film and upload my normal Thursday video, but in my head I totally spaced on this being Friday. So yes, I should have something about Witch House up today and I totally don’t. Last week was a bit of a cop out because I just wrote about H.P. Lovecraft and how I started thinking about doing this webseries. This week I’ve got nothing.

Well, okay not exactly nothing, I have a very limited something. I’ve decided that I think I want to try writing my idea out as a short story first. I’m thinking that might help me work out some of my ideas a little bit better and then I’ll have something more concrete to post here, hopefully every week. Next week I’ll try and have at least a little bit of the story written up to share here.

Since this is a short post I’ll quickly share that I had a very nice break from work, but sadly my sleep cycle and I are still not exactly on the same page. I was practically nocturnal for about a week, which is a thing I commonly revert to when left to my own devices, and now I have to be a day walker. I’m trying my best, but I think I’ll still be a little off on my sleeping patterns for a couple of weeks. I hope if you had a break that you had a wonderful time and that you have a better time sleeping like a normal person than I do.

Topic, Topic, Thinking of a Topic

Hi Internet People,

I’m totally writing this post in advance because I am very worried that on Tuesday after the first day back at work that I will be super tired and fall asleep super early. I’m sure no one would mind if I didn’t post something new, but the goal of this blog was to have something posted every day, no matter how small or lame. So after some deep thinking, okay it wasn’t really deep thinking at all, it was just me staring at my computer screen until I figured out what to write.

Now in this super interesting post I thought I’d talk about how I really wish I could pull off an undercut. Why yes, so interesting right? Yeah, I’m sure if you even stopped to read this post you stopped reading during that first paragraph where I was trying to figure out what to write. So I absolutely love looking at undercut hairstyles. They are the coolest haircuts ever and I really want one, but I think it would look weird on me and that I wouldn’t actually be able to pull it off. Beyond that I don’t think I’d remember to schedule time to upkeep it properly. I just really like them and after seeing Fantastic Beasts and Colin Farrell’s epic one I really want one. Hannah Hart’s is really nice and I’ve seen so many people with such great ones.

And Back to Work!

Hi Internet People,

Now it’s back to our regularly scheduled work schedule. Today is the first day that I go back to working my regular 8-4:30 shift, surprisingly we also got the 2nd off, and I am totally not complaining. After lounging around for about a week this is definitely a massive shift. I stay up so late and sleep in super late when I don’t have work, which means I’m going to be sort of dragging the rest of this week.

I bet that this first weekend I will super sleep again. Friday night I’ll probably just immediately crash after work. This used to happen to me when I was in school. I would revert to my super not regular sleeping patterns over break and I’d have to get up really early again for classes. I’d be super tired the entire first week I was back and nap a lot when I came home.

What’s nice is that this is a week where not everyone is back and I can slowly get back into the swing of things. I’ll have some professional development stuff, which is pretty easy, and then I’ll have to do some prep work for the week after. Prep work week is nice because it means I can get organized and figure out how the semester will go. Fingers crossed it all goes well, I also hope that the job hunting goes well. I really need to find a nice job with at least some benefits.

Last Day of Unexpected Break

Hi Internet People,

That probably makes it sound like I randomly didn’t go to work, but I wasn’t actually expecting to get this much time off during the holidays. Last year I was working at the video store and worked almost every day from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day because no one was available and I’m a single young woman with no kids so everyone thought I’d be cool just working all the time. I seriously wound up passing out on Christmas Day and sleeping like a rock after dinner. I was just super exhausted.

This year I got a little bit over a week off and I have done a lot of sleeping and lounging around. Managed not to catch up on like any of the shows I wanted to binge watch, but I did watch The OA with my family. I really hope it gets a second season because I am trying to figure out what stuff was real and what stuff was fake. What parts of her story were real, what parts were fake, seriously what even happened?! I liked it, but I have no idea how to take that ending.

Anyway after that unplanned The OA rant, today is the last day I have off from work so because I’m super exciting, I think I’ll just be laying around. Seriously I have nothing planned, but I haven’t really had solidly made plans all of this time off. Oh well, I’m just going to enjoy myself and relax. Oh and pack my lunch, I’ll have to do that.
