Work, But Not Work and Site Things

Hi Internet People,

This week I sort of didn’t have to go to work. That’s right I got three days off and I still don’t have to go in to the office at all. Normally I wouldn’t be able to do this, but the way my job is set up there’s a max amount of hours I can work and until my end date on June 23rd I can’t really work more than 20 hours a week. I’m not complaining, it’s meant I can get a lot of site stuff done and spend some time catching up on shows.

Tomorrow and Friday I have to go to an end of term retreat and I had to buy a swimsuit. The set up for it is a bit weird, but presumably I will be spending some time in a pool or hot tub after the actual retreat aspect is over on the first day. Hopefully I don’t have to venture out into the sun, but I have some intense sunscreen to avoid getting burned. I’m like a vampire, seriously I can burn just being in the shade on a sunny day for an hour. It’s totally happened.

I’m enjoying my really flexible work schedule and what I’m super excited about is my upcoming video schedule. I’m still not sure what days new videos will be going up, but I’m planning on doing video recaps for Stitchers, Dark Matter, and Orphan Black when they come back and then later in the month I’m planning Preacher and Killjoys recaps. I know that’s a lot of recaps, but I think it’ll be fun and it means I can live tweet more easily. You see when I normally write recaps I do it while I’m watching the show, which means I totally can’t live tweet. The Orphan Black ones are going to be intense because it’s the final season and honestly I just want to do them because I know I’ll be a hot mess in them.

Anyway, those are some minor updates for you since I haven’t really been writing much over here currently. I’ve been focusing on some other projects and sort of just using this site as a place to link to my YouTube. But hey, I wrote something up this week at least.

Random Weekend Updates

Hi Internet People,

This weekend was busy, but nice. My sister was home for the weekend and we hung out and did some random stuff. Mostly we went shopping and grabbed food a few times. We did go to one of my favorite places, Red Robin, I know I’m a vegetarian(okay pescatarian sometimes), but I love burgers and fries. I also love 5 Guys, their fries are so good! Okay on the topic of food, since I’ve already gotten kind of off topic, my mom and I found a random restaurant on Sunday. We were driving around and trying to find somewhere to eat when we suddenly wound up near a place called the MCL Restaurant and Bakery.

Ages ago the mall in my town had a place called the MCL Cafeteria. The food was just sort of okay at the one in my town, I just remember it being random cold things in individual bowls. The one we found had actual hot food and a ton of choices. I ate a bunch of delicious veggies, plus a massive piece of cornbread and a super tasty slice of pie. I’m a huge fan of food, if you haven’t already guessed.

Besides eating this weekend my sister and I went to the mall and picked up some clothes. I wanted more black pants, because my whole work ascetic is pretty much black pants all the time. Yes, I’m a lazy dresser, but I’m a very lazy getting ready in the morning person so the fewer choices I have the easier it is for me in the morning. I had a really nice weekend and I’m psyched for this week because Lucifer is back tonight and there are new eps of Supergirl and iZombie. Plus I can totally watch them on my lunch break, which is awesome! Or if I don’t I can watch them when I get home from work, might even live tweet iZombie if I have time. Oh and I’m totally going to rewatch the premiere of American Gods at least a few more times because that episode was amazing!

That’s about it, this is a pretty random post, but hey some days I just want to ramble and it’s easier to do it on here instead of in a video or on Twitter.

Okay, So Maybe I’m Slacking Here

Hi Internet People,

I did mean to write something up for today, but that didn’t happen. I spent most of Thursday night working on my brain recipe for next week and then with a work out and shower my evening got a tick eaten up. I don’t know how much I’ll have written up here next week either, only because it is going to be a pretty busy video week.

Lucifer is back on Monday, WOOOO!!!!, and that means a video is back in the rotation. With the set up for videos that I have it looks like I’ll have stuff on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Then Tuesdays will still be iZombie day so there’s going to be a pretty intensive set up for the week. I’m not complaining, I just might have even less time to post on here. I’ve been trying to do some updates, but I haven’t had too much going on outside of work and NGE work.

I am very excited though because Free Comic Book Day is coming! I have to go to a work event, but I’m going to get up super early and go wait in line really early to get comics. Conveniently everything is downtown so I can just walk from the store to the event. I was really hoping to go to Table Top Day this week, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to work out. Just bad timing on my part. Oh well, it still should be a fun weekend. I’ll try and post a bit more next week, but it might randomly drop off. I’ll try though!

Big Day!

Hi Internet People,

Okay, so today is a big day. I was going to write about this over the weekend, but I was a bit busy. I had a work event on Saturday that sort of ate up most of my day and I was exhausted on Sunday and slept for most of it. I also had some NGE stuff to edit up and some food things to work on. With no real weekend time to chat on here I thought I’d get this up on Monday.

This isn’t anything super long, but I have a job interview today. Now I like my current job, I’ve actually talked about liking it on here before, but I have to be ready to get another one. The contract is only 11 months and may or may not be renewable, there’s some complicated government funding stuff involved. What this means is I need to try and find a steady job, with benefits. It just so happens the place I’m at now is higher a position and I have an interview scheduled for later today. I’m hoping it goes well and I really want this job. My interview suit is prepped and ready and I already got approval to leave work a bit early. I’m coming back after the interview so it’s basically acting as my lunch break, just a bit later in the day.

Busy Weekend, But Fun Week Ahead

Hi Internet People,

I had an unexpectedly busy weekend. I was worn out on Friday after work and called it a night pretty early, but Saturday and Sunday were full of things. Saturday was full of Nerdy Girl Express work. I watched Riverdale and filmed my recap video, tested and created my iZombie recipe post for Tuesday, interviewed the very fun Lane Allison from After Pluto, then filmed a video about her webseries pilot.

On top of all of that I watched the Swerve Periscope and backed their Indiegogo campaign. I also watched a bunch of Absolutely Fabulous, which I just happened to finish on Monday after work. Sunday was a bit busier than i expected. I wound up having to sing at church because they needed someone to sing the opening number. I wore a skirt, I know astonishing right, but it did touch the floor. Then I got a donut and dinner food and took a very long nap. I watched more Absolutely Fabulous and walked the dog, actually I walked him a couple times. Normally he gets walked by other members of the family, but I was the only human home for most of the weekend.

Then Monday I went into work where I got some amazing work related news, but I don’t want to share too much right now. I am very excited though and really hope that it works out. If you could say a general shout out to the religious entity of your choosing, or put some good vibes out, or just think positively about me that would be great. Fingers crossed everyone!

Working on Some Site Stuff

Hi Internet People,

This weekend I was working pretty hardcore on some stuff for NGE and was a bit preoccupied when I wasn’t working on that stuff. On Friday I went to a concert with my friend and her family. She got me the ticket for Christmas and after a brief stop at home I was out of the house until after midnight. I also ate french toast and french fries as my primary meals of the day, though I added in a random green juice to attempt and make my diet sort of health. We saw Journey, with Asia as the guest opener. I don’t really listen to either band, I’m not super into classic rock, but I went and it was alright. I picked up a roller derby schedule and set off a metal detector, cause that’s what you do when you go to a random venue in Indiana. You also walk awkwardly around 4 year olds handing out religious pamphlets in the rain. Why did his dad think that was okay?! The kid was going to catch cold! I don’t care that they decided to hand out pamphlets, whatever dude, but it was terrible out and I was worried that the three little kids were going to get sick.

I then crashed hardcore when I got home and slept for a super long time on Saturday. When I got up I did some cleaning, grabbed Olive Garden with my mom, and then filmed two videos and wrote up a bunch of articles. There were lots of comics to read and the reviews are coming. I was also working on some interview prep, which I’m really excited for. Then I slept like a log on Sunday and got to work on a book I’m reviewing. I’m close to done, I’m hoping to have the review written up today. I also did some Wynonna Earp rewatching and I am totally finishing season one super soon. I love this show so much! I also found out season 3 of Salem is up and Absolutely Fabulous has been added to Netflix. They may have yanked 3 seasons of Bob’s Burgers, but at least I have that to see me through. I’m psyched because iZombie is back tonight and even though I can’t watch it live, I am totally filming a video about it being back for this week. I also might look into doing some more covers, though they’ll involve a lot of practice so they might not be for a little bit.

Anyway, that’s a quick update on how everything is going and what I’m up to. Keep an eye out for new videos, including a very goofy one. You’ll see!

Super Sleepy Tuesday

Hi Internet People,

Today is going to be one of those days where I am dragging, I can already tell. I stayed up later than I should have last night and when I got out of bed this morning my only thought was “Coffee!!!” Maybe imagine that as more of a low grunt, I was in no way that peppy. I had a really nice Monday, just did not set myself up for an awake and alert Tuesday.

It also totally doesn’t help that it is grey and rainy here and it doesn’t look like the sun is ever going to come out. I really shouldn’t complain about that, it’s not like I’m a huge fan of sunlight. I just burn super easily and I hate being overly hot, plus most of my favorite clothes are designed for cooler weather. Maybe I’m secretly a vampire, though I have been working on a lot of brain recipes so maybe I’m more zombie.

Last night I got to do an amazing interview with one of the cast from The Magicians. Chatting with her was really fun and then I spent part of the night typing up the transcript for the article. That, plus working out and a little bit of video prep already put me at a pretty late time. Then I decided to do brain pics for an article I have coming out next week on NGE, which meant it was even later. Throw in some paper editing for my brother and it was almost 1 am before I decided to call it a night. The big thing I’m looking forward to today is taking a nap after dinner. Honestly only big thing I have going on. I mean I have some minor editing to do, but that’ll get done, and I need to keep doing prep for a video. It’s not like the video is going to be super exciting, I just am going to be doing something that requires me actually practicing it so I don’t look like a dope.

The Job Hunt Must Begin in Earnest

Hi Internet People,

I am going to have to mount my horse and get my dog ready because it is job hunting time. Okay, I don’t have a horse, but I do have a very cute dog who I am sure would be willing to sniff his way around in search of employment for me. I am currently serving at a local college and believe that the position will be eliminated by October of 2017. My position is funded through a federal program, which is part of one of many being recommended for cutting in the recently presented skinny budget. I really enjoy what I do and have helped a number of students, but of the programs up for elimination I believe that others are more likely to survive the cut. I really love PBS so I understand giving that priority over the service I do. I had been warned that my program could be cut and while I have been trying to be positive I must be pragmatic.

I recently drafted a new resume to help me hunt for academic focused jobs, but beyond the field of academics I have other interests. I am very well prepared and have a great deal of experience in academic work, but if a writing or researching position came around I would snap that up. I spent two years of my life working on a thesis focused on how modern British detective television programs presented crime and the city of London during the late Victorian period. What that means is I’m very good at finding articles and information to explain why television is important and how it shapes the general populace’s understanding of topics and ideas. It’s online and if you want to read it I can share a link. I really enjoy what I do for The Nerdy Girl Express, both writing articles and making videos, and I wish that I could do something along those lines for a living. If I had about a million more subscribers I could maybe bank on that, though I would still need health insurance. Honestly my dream job would be working for KindaTV, so if any of you lovely people are reading this I can shoot you a resume.

Since I am young, single, and childless I have the luxury that I can move pretty much anywhere. I will admit that currently I still do not own a car or have a license, but I can get it very soon or I will create a budget for getting ride services wherever I move. I would like the luxury of having health insurance, with or without dental, the ability to afford a cozy apartment for one, with the opportunity to purchase a black cat from a shelter, and cable/satellite and decent internet. I like being able to live tweet shows, which is the only reason I want actual cable or satellite. If you hear of anything and happen to see this post let me know because I am actively on the lookout for a job I can start close to June 23^rd of this year.

Let Me Know What You’re Up To This Week!

Hi Internet People,

I’ve got a pretty fun week planned, but all the fun doesn’t start until later in the week. While I’m super excited, and a little bit nervous about my plans, it’s Monday and that means work week things are happening. I want to know what all of you are up to this week.

I don’t really have a ton of stuff to say today, mostly that I’m still packing and getting ready for things. Be prepared for a video full of excitement and probably yelling later this week. Do you have fun stuff planned for this week? Are you prepping for a big trip too? Let me know! Even if you aren’t doing anything super exciting this week, do you have something fun coming up eventually?

A Brief Witch House Hiatus

Hi Internet People,

I know that I said I would be doing Witch House related creative posts every Friday, but I’ve been a bit distracted by some work things and some life things. We’ve been really busy at work and the uptick in appointments has left me a bit tired at the end of the day. Then I’ve been working out and working on Nerdy Girl Express things so I just haven’t been in the zone to write about the Witch House. On top of that I have something that is going to involve me taking a bit of a break on the blog.

ClexaCon is next week and I will be there! This means that Thursday all the way until the Monday of the next week I will be really busy. I am going to be taking videos, live tweeting, and doing a bunch of other stuff to share my trip over on NGE and with all of that going on I am going to take a bit of a break so that I can focus on that those few days. I should still have a Fangirl Freakouts and a My Kinda Recaps up that week. I have a plan! I’ll post those here like normal, but I won’t be writing up blog posts for Friday, Sunday, or Monday. Depending on if I have time I’ll write one up for Tuesday, but I may need to skip that day too.

I’m sorry if you were expecting a Witch House update, but they will be back after two weeks! I’ll try to write an extra long one with some cool stuff.
