Lots of Comic Reading

Hi Internet People,

Over the past few days I’ve been reading a lot of comics. I went to the store and picked up my pulls on Friday before Christmas and I totally hadn’t realized I would have so much to read. The Suicide Squad vs Justice League crossover has started and the first issue was full of characters. I think it’ll be really cool to see so many DC characters interacting. Then Harley Quinn had a holiday issue which was freaking hilarious. She went into Santa’s mind and wound up fighting the most random assortment of villainous beings ever.

There were also new Torchwood, Backstagers, and Spell on Wheels issues. Torchwood was full of twists and I really want to know what is going on with the mysterious stowaway. Backstagers got super creepy at the end and I loved the alternate reality-esque introduction of a new stage crew. Spell on Wheels was so wonderful and sweet, plus the women found out that there is something far more nefarious going on than they first anticipated. There was a new Detective Comics addition that had some flashback stuff in it, I am just so excited for the Batwoman stuff that I’m getting antsy for her specific storyline to start. Raven had a new issue too and whatever she is fighting is super dangerous. The evil carnival element is frightening, it reminds me a bit of Something Wicked This Way Comes.

I also picked up the newest Lumberjanes graphic novel. There were merpeople! April, who we learn loves mermaids, she learns that they actually prefer not being called that, wants to help get an underwater band back together. The merpeople have the coolest outfits and honestly I want to be a merperson now. Plus we got some great backstory for the Lumberjanes themselves. For Christmas my friend got me The DC Universe By Neil Gaiman, which I have almost bought like four times. What is so great about that book is that he loves Batman and I love Batman so it’s a combination of two of my favorite things. There’s a fun Superman and Green Lantern story in it too, plus Metamorpho. I’d never heard of him before, sorry DC folks I don’t know all the things, but his story made me laugh.

I’ve had fun chilling out and reading lots of comics, but I need to get to reading some books and binging some shows too. I’m so behind!

Why Can’t I Find Batwoman Things?

Hi Internet People,

How come I can never find any Batwoman stuff? I mean seriously, why is it so hard to find anything with Kate Kane or her alter ego on it? Okay, I know there have been some DC Bombshells things. Hot Topic had a dress and a baseball cap, which I totally should have bought, but didn’t. Yes, I am lame and should have been more on the ball, but I haven’t been able to find anything else.

I saw a figure for her a while back as a Bombshell. She’s a pretty big deal in those comics, which is one of the reasons that I love them, but that’s all I’ve been able to find. During Halloween I wanted to try and get a Batwoman mask, but I was surprised to find that while I have seen a mask much like hers it was labeled Batgirl. Batgirl and Batwoman totally have different masks. Kate Kane’s ears, yes I’m calling them ears, are much taller. They have to hide the fact that the red hair pouring out of it is actually a wig within her cowl. She also has a more Batman style costume. It is more reinforced and structured than Batgirl’s more slim and fitted piece. Now the more recent Batgirl of Burnside has combat boots, similar to Batwoman’s, but the cut and color are different. Batwoman is black and red, while Batgirl’s highlight color is yellow.

I also got really excited while at a Half Price Bookstore this weekend because I saw that they had DC Bombshells keychains. Now I do like Bombshells Harley, I own her bomber jacket, but I have so many other Harley things already. I searched through every rack and all I found were Harley, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, and Batgirl. Seriously no Batwoman anywhere. If someone knows where I can find Batwoman stuff please let me know because I desperately want to add to my collection. I also really want to get that costume put together.

So Many Amazing Comics to Read

Hi Internet People,

On Friday for my birthday I decided to splurge and buy kind of a lot of comics at my local comic book store. They were running a buy one, get one half deal, which meant that I could get my dad’s Christmas present and grab a graphic novel for myself. I finally picked up Superman: Red Son. I’ve been wanting to read it for ages and I found it behind some other Superman books. I also had my pull list to pick up, plus some additions. The latest Harley Quinn comic was hilarious and then got really sad right at the end. Harley and Ivy are so cute together and dang it, Ivy I know you have the planet to help, but I just want you two to live together.

Detective Comics is examining the victims of Batman with the Victims Syndicate and there was an epic teaser in the back for the Batwoman comic happening in January. WOOOOOO!!!!! BATWOMAN!!!!!! Snotgirl is getting even trippier, I love the writing in it and the art is just so cool. I read issue four of Backstagers and that ending was spooky! I added Raven to my pull list and whatever monster she is fighting is doing dangerous stuff and she is not doing okay trying to fight it. Then I magically found some comics hiding out in my house. Somehow I got Slab #1 and #2 at one point and just put them in my room. I need to read them asap, I loved Remote from them and the universes are related.

I grabbed so many graphic novels too. They were all on clearance and I couldn’t resist. I picked up the second volume of new 52 Harley Quinn, an older Harley Quinn book with her in her Animated Series outfit, and Batman-Vampire. I love Batman and vampires so I honestly couldn’t just leave it there. I also picked up a comic called Phonograph which sounded interesting. Then for my birthday my folks got me a Sherlock Holmes book that looks really cool, I love Sherlock comics.

I totally have a lot to read and I am super excited about it!

I Went on Amazon to Buy One Thing and…

Hi Internet People,

Okay, no one should ever leave me alone with my Amazon account open. I was on a mission to buy one, just one dvd, and you want to know what I ordered, yeah, not just one dvd. I didn’t even intend to, but I totally shouldn’t have typed in Batwoman. Alright I’m sure you’d like to know what I’m talking about instead of just guessing at it.

Two nights ago I learned that The Craft wasn’t on Netflix anymore and I was crushed. I love that movie, but every time I’ve tried to buy it the only copies were strangely super expensive. Maybe they were magic, who knows. Well I went on Amazon and found it for 10 bucks, but the downside was I’d have to spend over 5 bucks for shipping. Seriously, that’s like buying a second dvd! I decided I would go looking for a way to push me up to free shipping, which led to me searching the word Batwoman. I thought hey, maybe they’ll have some cool Halloween stuff.

I didn’t find any Batwoman costume pieces, well that weren’t far too much like lingerie for me, but I did find more Batwoman graphic novels. I have Hydrology and the first three from the New 52 run, but that’s it. In my search I found 4, 5, and 6 and I couldn’t just not buy them at that point. I love Batwoman and I want to make sure I am finally caught up on her story. I’ve been reading her current Detective Comics plot and I can’t wait for her to get her own solo comic again. Thankfully I did have some cashback stuff so I didn’t have to pay full price for my order and I still got free shipping.
