Blogging with Benny: Skelfie Time

Hi Internet People,

It’s been a long time since a Blogging with Benny and since I’d been sucking at taking photos of everybody’s favorite skeleton he decided to take it upon himself to make sure there were pics this week. I present to you Benny’s skelfies!

This first one is just a traditional selfie style skelfie with Benny cheesing it up for the camera.

This second one he calls Hats On (These titles aren’t great you guys, but hey he’s dead, it happens)

Third skelfie of the bunch is The Shade, Oh the Shade! Also somehow my phone, which Benny borrowed, randomly added purple filters. No clue, I don’t ask questions of the technology because if I do I fear they’ll see that as weakness and assume they can destroy me first in the robot apocalypse. Jokes, these are the jokes, which I would cue laugh tracks for, but hey we’re on a budget.

This final skelfie is Two Heads are Better Than One, with a special appearance from Ed, who happens to be a head.

Who’s That Girl? It’s Jess, Lots of Jess

Hi Internet People,

When the fourth season of New Girl went up on Netflix I hunkered down for a couple nights and watched it. Now normally that would have been the end of it, but my brother caught some of the newest season and thought it would be fun to rewatch it from the beginning. So for the past week or so I’ve been watching random episodes of New Girl starting all the way back at season one and we have just made it back to season four.

Now the more I watch New Girl the more I realize I actually like the guys of the apartment more than Jess. I’m not saying I don’t like Jess. I think Zooey Deschanel is cute and her character does fun stuff, but I am a really big fan of Schmidt and Nick. Schmidt is just so over the top and dramatic that everything he does just cracks me up. He is just goofy, but a good goofy. On a side note seeing Max Greenfield in American Horror Story: Hotel was super weird and while he managed to pull of the bleached blonde hair, you read yesterday’s post where I babbled about my love of dudes with hair that color right, so this shouldn’t surprise you. He’s just so well groomed and put together on New Girl that it shocked me.

Now the reason I like Nick so much is I’m pretty sure he and I would get along great. He’s curmudgeonly and lazy and his attempts at writing a zombie novel remind me of the time I thought I could write an epic vampire romance, a la Anne Rice, when I was 15. He sweats like crazy when he lies and just does not have his life together. Somehow all of that is endearing to me, and super hilarious. When he winds up revealing all his secrets to The Fish during Winston’s home interview I was dying.

I like Winston, Coach, and Cece, but I feel like I don’t know them as well as Schmidt and Nick. Winston in the fourth season is great when he’s doing cop stuff. Coach just hasn’t been in the show enough for me to really get to like him, though Cece is great throughout. I am so happy about her and Schmidt.

If you haven’t seen New Girl it’s cute and the first four seasons are on Netflix so you can totally give it a look. As always you can share your thoughts in the comments below or with me on Twitter, @kleffnotes. You can also find me on The Nerdy Girl Express. I also am still running my giveaway over on my kleffnotes YouTube channel.

Give Me Something to Write About!

Hi Internet People,

I’m trying to think of fun and exciting things to write about on here and I’m spacing out. While thinking of stuff one thing that popped into my head was the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode, Once More With Feeling. Mostly because Buffy has a song where she literally says “Give me something to sing about. Please, I need something to sing about!” This led to a spiral of Buffy thoughts which literally always ends with “dang James Marsters is an attractive man and I wish he was in more things so I could stare at his wonderful face.” Though I do like him more with his bleach blonde hair than his natural hair. That bleached hair with the scar, biggest crush ever. He was my celebrity crush for all of high school so I have this soft spot in my heart for him forever.

He also totally showed up in Torchwood and made out with Captain Jack so I mean that happened. Thank you BBC! Okay, this post wasn’t going to be all about James Marsters, but that happened. Now on the topic of bleached blonde men you all already know that I am a huge fan of Blaine and just David Anders in general, but that hair totally sells it for me. No idea why, but bleach blonde hair is just a good look, well not on me, but on dudes and on women like Rose McIver, who I think could pull off anything she wanted to wear.

Well hey look at that I actually got a post out of all that rambling. Though I really should think of extra things to write about in case I get stuck for ideas again. Any suggestions guys? You can comment them below or tweet at me, @kleffnotes. You can also find some cool stuff on The Nerdy Girl Express. Oh and I have fun videos on my kleffnotes YouTube channel where I totally have a giveaway going on that you should look into.

Having Fun Rereading a Very Sad Series

Hi Internet People,

I mentioned in my video about The Series of Unfortunate Events Netflix series that I had started rereading the books. when I filmed it I had just made it to The Wide Window, book three, but as of today I am on The Ersatz Elevator, book six. This is actually the first time I have ever gone back and reread the series and I am so glad that I did.

I honestly had forgotten some pretty important details from the books. I remembered the first three pretty well, which means that I might have reread them when the movie came out way back in 2004. I don’t remember if I did, but since that movie only used those three movies as source material I really might have reread them to see how different the movie was from those books.

Rereading this series has been a pleasure because it really is almost like reading something brand new. I remember little bits and pieces, but I haven’t remembered full plots so far. It’s also been nice to have something quick to read at night when I want to unwind. The books are pretty short and the writing style makes them really easy to breeze through. When I first read the series the penultimate and final book came out so much later than the rest of the series that while I read them I know I missed out on some of the fine details and earlier references. I’m really excited to finish the series, but I really am having fun being able to enjoy them again with new eyes.

Also bonus fun casting news! While I’m writing this I found out that Netflix has cast a Violet and a Klaus. The actor playing Klaus is new to acting so I think this is his first big role. Violet is going to be played by Malina Weissman, who currently plays the young Supergirl in flashback sequences.

Yesterday I filmed a quick casual cosplay video and I’m still running my Funko contest over on YouTube and Twitter, @kleffnotes. You can find out all the details by going to my YouTube channel. I’m filming a fun video today and that will go up some time on Thursday. I’ve also got some fun articles over on The Nerdy Girl Express.

Ugh, No iZombie Again

Hi Internet People,

Seriously another week without a new episode of iZombie and I am dealing with some serious withdrawal issues. I haven’t made brains in weeks, though I have recipes ready and raring to go. I’ve watched the trailer for the episode showing next week so many times and I just want to watch it so bad. Seriously erotica Liv looks like she is going to be so great to watch and I just want to be able to. Sigh, why must we have so many hiatuses!

Okay now that I’ve done all my kvetching about not having a new iZombie episode there is something that I have found that is really fun and is helping with the lack of new episodes. Over on Twitter @_JonathanWhite_ and @iZombieObsessed are hosting an iZombie fan fiction thing. Anyone on Twitter can join in. All you have to do is find the tweets with the hashtag #iZombieFanFiction and start adding your own ideas to it. If you want to catch up with what has already happened quickly I wrote an article with all the stuff we’ve written so far for The Nerdy Girl Express, Of Course You Need More iZombie in Your Life.

I’m planning on adding more to it tomorrow, but I would love to see what you all want to add. We have a headless murder victim, a dead Sherlock Holmes fan, and Liv just had tea time in the morgue. To add your stuff you just need to write something, either in a tweet or screen shot stuff you write somewhere else, that’s what I did because I wrote too much, and then put #iZombieFanFiction, #iZombieObsessed, and #iZombie in the tweet. You can also add @iZombieObsessed and @_JonathanWhite_ if you want, though I’m sure they will still find your additions.

Just one week more until new episodes brainies, we can do it!

You can find me on Twitter, @kleffnotes, if you want to find my additions. I’m also running a contest through my YouTube channel and Twitter so if you like free Funko stuff you should totally check it out.

Katherine in the Heights

Hi Internet People,

I thought I would share a kind of embarrassing story today because Mondays always seem like the perfect day for embarrassing stories to me. When I was in middle school I went with my Girl Scout troop to this ropes course. The entire thing was like 15, 20 feet from the ground, honestly don’t remember which height exactly, but it was somewhere in there.

To go up you had to wear a helmet and a harness. The harness hooked onto support wires along the ropes course so you totally couldn’t fall off, well mostly. There were points in the course where you had to unhook and then immediately rehook yourself while standing on these little lookout point things. Now I promise I didn’t fall off because that would make this more of a Katherine almost died story instead of an embarrassing story. I had done okay most of the way through the ropes course until I got stuck having to walk across the tightrope portion.

Again, I was hooked onto a line so I couldn’t fall so technically this should have been easy, but it totally wasn’t. When I got hooked onto the support line I managed to snag the rope I was supposed to hold onto while walking across it, which meant I actually had to do a sideways tightrope walk, with a support that I actually couldn’t hold on to. The ropes course people kept saying I just had to keep walking, but I kept falling backward. I would then have to swing myself back to the little tightrope by grabbing at the rope caught in my harness. Every time I fell backward I got more and more nervous, even though I knew I wasn’t going to fall to the ground.

Now for some reason I’ve never understood at all, my right leg started shaking. Not like a little jiggle, nope, my leg was like Thumper levels of ridiculous movement. I couldn’t get it to stop, which meant that walking on a tiny tightrope was becoming impossible. I eventually made it to the end of that section and with my leg going insane I got onto the zipline that meant I could get off of the course. When I made it to the step down ladder the woman at the end tried to stop my leg from shaking by holding it. Instead of stopping it, my leg caused this woman’s arms to shake and she actually had a hard time trying to keep control of it. I eventually made it down the ladder to the ground and my leg was still really twitchy.

My leg has literally never done that ever again since the ropes course. I don’t even know how it was shaking so badly, but I’m totally never doing another ropes course again. Has any crazy stuff happened to you like that? If so you can totally share it with me in the comments or on Twitter, @kleffnotes. I posted a new video on my YouTube channel recently and you should totally check it out if you like free stuff. You can also find awesome articles on The Nerdy Girl Express.
